LONDON (Dow Jones)--Staff at Jaguar Land Rover, the U.K.-based carmaker owned by India's Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM), are to vote on a one-year pay freeze and a four-day week, in return for no compulsory job losses for two years, the BBC reports on its Web site Monday.

The deal has been agreed between the company and union leaders, and workers are due to decide within the coming weeks, the BBC reports.

"The unions recognize the severity of the situation and the need to take action to achieve further cost reductions while avoiding further redundancies," a company spokesman is quoted as saying

Declarou insolvência, na esperança de que o governo sueco lhes venha a dar uma mão. Pelo que eu tenho lido, já era. Não há esperança para a Saab. É pena, pois até foi uma marca que lançou no mercado alguns modelos interessantes.

Pessoalmente não gostei deste último 9-5, especialmente a carrinha. Mas tenho mesmo muita pena se a marca acabar.

Loss-making Saab sought protection from creditors this week to survive the current global economic malaise and buy time to find a new owner after GN decided to cut its ties with the unit by the start of 2010. Reinfeldt repeated the government did not want to own Saab but said it could guarantee a loan for the company if the carmaker found a new owner to keep it running. "Either GM change their decision on the exit or a new owner or a group of owners will come forward," he said. "If there is an owner that provides half of the resources, we can put up a state guarantee for the other half." In a court filing this week Saab said it made a 3 billion Swedish crown ($342 million) loss in 2008 and expected to lose as much again this year. It needs around 500 million crowns a month just to keep running, Reinfeldt has said, and billions of crowns more to invest in new models to make it competitive. Eu não gostei do restyling que, penso, foi lançado no ano passado. O modelo original, datado de 1997, era bastante interessante, um belo carro à época. 

Tenho pena que acabe mais uma das minhas marcas de referência. Quem que se seguirá? Espero mesmo que não seja a Jaguar / Land Rover. 

A Jaguar e a Land Rover são marcas míticas mundialmente, e não acredito que acabem.
